A Message to My Husband - (Submitted by Memorable Gift Customer Lori Green)

Memorable Gift Customer Lori Green

Last week, one of our customers shared with us how much her HUSBAND has impacted her life.  Check it out below:

My husband was truly pleased when he opened the anniversary present I purchased from your site. His favorite hobby is wood working, so the rosewood jewelry box turned out to be the perfect selection. I had his initials engraved on the top of the case. Your company did a very professional job.

Your customer service from start to finish was absolutely wonderful.  The jewelry box was wrapped beautifully. I could tell that my gift to my husband was packed with great care to prevent damage during shipping.

I have mentioned your website to friends and will continue to shop for personalized gifts at your online store.  By the way, I really like how easy it is to shop on the site.  Other gift sites are so cluttered with way too many items and the pictures are not high quality.  I can tell you take as much care with the site as you do with your packaging and shipping.

Thank you Memorable Gifts!

Top 10 Most Annoying Anniversary Gifts for Her

Let’s face it.  No matter how long men have been married, they don’t always pick the right gift for their wife.  Ideally, personalized gifts speak to a person’s interests, values or hobbies.  Engraved gifts are even more personal because they often express a sentiment about the strength of a relationship.  Guys, you need to put some thought into your gift selection .  Don’t make a last-minute decision and, whatever you do, avoid these top 10 most annoying gifts you could possibly give her.

Engraved Cuticle Remover
Okay, so you look at the calendar on your cell phone and see that your anniversary is in one week.  After complimenting yourself on your superior ability to plan ahead, you freeze instantly wondering what your lovely wife of three years could want for her anniversary.  She does have well-kept nails, right? A quick look on the internet leads you to a site where you could get engraved cuticle removers.  Don’t do it.  This is not one of the engraved gifts you give to a woman, especially one that already spends time and money on her nails.

Body Shaper
You still love her after she’s had three kids.  She is your best friend and a cherished companion who goes along with you to all your man flicks.  How will you show her the depth of your affection this year?  You really need to think what that gift you’re choosing is going to say to her.  Body Shaper?  It is a definite anniversary no-no.  Among all possible personalized gifts, this one alone is nothing more than a comment about her physicality, and more specifically her waist and hips.

Lip Hair Remover
It’s an unfortunate fact of life that some women have a bit more hair around the lips than others.  Women who are uncomfortable with the appearance of excess hair tend to this matter quietly, purchasing the product discreetly and using it in the comfort of their own home.  A lip hair remover is among the most despicable personalized gifts.  She will view it as a criticism, a way of pointing out her imperfection on a day you two should be celebrating your years together.

A Blouse that’s Too Big
Do you want to buy clothes for your wife to show how stylish and up-to-date you can be?  Well, make sure you know her size.  Don’t go anywhere near the department store or online shop for personalized gifts of clothing unless you know what you’re getting.  A 5-foot 3-inch petite woman with maybe a few extra pounds does not deserve the humiliation caused by receiving an extra large blouse for an anniversary gift.  Be very careful when treading the waters of personalized gifts in the clothing department.

Re-gifted Book she gave You Last Year
Did you already forget?  You’re the one in the family who enjoys reading books about World War II submarines.  That’s why she gave you that great coffee table book for your office.  You know, the one that you stashed on the bottom shelf in the living room and then promptly forgot about it?  She may be much more interested in books about history, fashion or psychology and you, of all people, should know that.  Don’t let your panic about running out of time cause you to make an error in judgment.  Do not re-gift a book, especially if it is one she gave to you.

Bargain-Basement Wine
A romantic dinner with wine could be the perfect ending of a first-rate anniversary celebration.  However, nothing squelches that romantic mood like cheap wine that tastes more like refined vinegar than Chardonnay.  If you don’t know much about good wine and still want to give her a bottle, study up or ask someone who is knowledgeable.  Wine can be a good accent to other personalized gifts  as long as you make a wise choice.

Ugly Watch
Is she an outdoors type of person?  Is she really active but still needs to keep up with the time without depending on her cell phone? Even your sporty wife needs a watch that has some feminine touches.  The ugly, bulky watches will not look good on her wrist.  If you find watches in the engraved gifts section of the department store, don’t choose something that would look better on you than on her.

Band Tour T-shirt
Picture this:  You have one day left before your anniversary and you absolutely have to shop after work.  You stand before two storefronts in the busy mall downtown.  When you go inside of each one, all you see are racks and racks of shirts with band names emblazoned across the front.  What will you do?  A band tour T-shirt may be an appropriate buy when walking through the mall with her on some sunny day, but it is a very bad idea to give her one for her anniversary.

Plastic Plates
In the 1970s plastic plates were all the rage.  A new neon color came out every month or so on KMART shelves.  Today you can find them at any Dollar Store location.  However popular or thrifty they may be, plastic plates make a terrible anniversary gift.

100 Easy Crossword Puzzles
If your wife prides herself in finishing the New York Times Crossword Puzzle every day, avoid giving her a cheap book of crossword puzzles.  You need to be sensitive to her intellectual needs and avoid at all costs the tendency to insult her intelligence.

How can you  truly give a special personalized gift to your wife for your anniversary?  You need to plan at least two weeks in advance to give her a gift that speaks to her personality and interests.  Keep away from gifts that are convenient or easy to buy.  Make your anniversary mean something to both of you by giving thoughtfully.

When an Anniversary Gift Goes Wrong

When an Anniversary Gift Goes Wrong - Yogurt Maker

If you are buying for an anniversary present for your favorite couple, its best to spend a little time thinking about what type of present could properly communication your sentiments. Look at the personalized gifts that would fit your friends’ lifestyle.

You’ll want to avoid getting the wrong gift because you don’t want to risk the backlash or cold shoulder or, worse yet, the blank stare and lack of comprehension on your friends’ faces when they just don’t get you at all.  When you give the right gifts to celebrate a couple’s big day, you cannot go wrong.

So take a deep breath and close your eyes. Now picture your friends.  Think about how long they’ve been married, what they like to do in their leisure time, and even consider what each person enjoys as a hobby.  Reassure yourself…and exhale.  You will be rewarded for thinking it through when your gifts are well received.  The alternative? You could end up giving them something that is absolutely wrong or terribly inappropriate or just not something they like.

At the other end of the spectrum is the tired, old and boring gift.  You know, those old standards that everyone receives year after year. Your friends who are about to celebrate their anniversary have probably received too many bottles of cheap wine and fondue pots to count.

There are many ways that an anniversary gift can go wrong.  Let’s look at a few different types of presents and see what happens to them.

His and Her Haircuts

Try to stay far away from gift cards offered by alternative, modern hair styling salons and be safe by giving gifts with a personal touch. Why? Well, for instance, a couple in the baby boom generation recently retired from the corporate rat race will have little use for the hairstyles worn so well by younger men and women.

Granted, rock and roll is equally revered by those in disparate generations. However, chances are that the short and spiky look for him and the uber-messy layers look for her would just not produce the desired effect. The couple, wondering what on earth possessed you to give them this particular present, would pass the gift cards down the line to their kids or grandkids.

Nice Picture Frame, Wrong Photo Choice

Okay, so you’ve decided on a picture frame for the perfect couple you have known since college days in the late 1980s.  Wow. Time does fly.  But you don’t want to stop there.  You have a picture of each that you’ve held onto, and you can’t wait to put the photos in the frame.  The problem is, the picture of her looks like she could have been the understudy for Melanie Griffith in “Working Girl.”  When you take a good look at his picture, some small area of your unconscious mind admits that he could easily have been mistaken for a younger Lyle Lovett circa 1992.

After they open your gift and see the dated photos, your friends will thank you politely before closing the hinged frame and stashing it in the junk drawer next to the couch.  If you are going to give photo frames, let your friends choose the pictures.

Watch Out for Small Appliances

If you know that your friends like to cook, it may be tempting to give the couple a small appliance.  Tread lightly here and be wary.  You may enjoy making yogurt, but you can’t be certain a yogurt maker would be the best gift.  One or both of your friends may be lactose intolerant.  How could you know they have replaced all dairy with soy products in the last two years?  Whatever you do, don’t go for the slider burger maker.  Diets change often and your gift may end up in long-term storage next to their bread maker and fondue pot.

If you want to give anniversary gifts that will not go wrong, choose among the many gifts that can carry a heart-felt message.  A gift that communicates your true sentiment will be proudly displayed for years to come.

The Best Wedding Anniversary Gift for a Photographer

Choosing the best, most memorable wedding gift anniversary is quite a challenge, especially when attending large weddings where hundreds of gifts will be given to the wedding couple. If the wedding couple, or just the bride or groom, happens to be a photographer, think about giving a wedding gift that relates to such an interest. This article will touch on the best wedding anniversary gift for a photographer.

As many photographers and friends of photographers know, equipment (camera, lenses, editing equipment, etc.) is paramount and treated like a child. Photographers have select equipment that they use often, and are diehard fans for the brands they buy. Canon photographers love Canon, Nikon shooters love Nikon; this is the reality. And, for this reason, you should not buy a photographer equipment, rather a gift that allows them to enjoy their photos.

I propose buying photographers personalized picture frames as a wedding anniversary gift. Personalized picture frames allow the photographer to showcase his or her work in a way that’s unique, personalized, and thoughtful. If you know a photographer loves to shoot images of the beach, give them a personalized picture frame that relates to such.

I hope this article has been helpful and good luck with your wedding gift selection.
